One of the biggest things I've noticed here in Korea, especially in Seoul, is that there isn't very much widespread agriculture. As in there is no row upon row of field space, except where there are large rice patties. So, where is all the Ag?
If you look real close, you'll see pockets of little gardens everywhere. A few terraces on a mountainside, a small greenhouse next to a building, lots of flower beds in between streets, hanging baskets everywhere!! It's amazing how agriculture is everywhere here. Somebody needs to know how to manage all of those sites whether it be the flower baskets on poles on along the streets in Seoul or the massive rice patties on the outskirts of the city.
It was really interesting to talk to the Korean Ag Ed students because I discovered something very interesting about their educational system. Their students don't all go to a high school to teach but some work as human resource mangers in big companies like LG, Hyundai, Samsung etc., who would have ever thought the two were connected! This is quite simple if you think about the skills that are required from an ag. ed. student and a human resource student. They're practically identical.
