Broadening My Horizons

Welcome to our BLOG! I hope that you find this trip as interesting and exciting as I am sure that I will.  Like my fellow classmates, I have the grand opportunity to go to SOUTH KOREA!  This is going to be great due to the fact that we will be able to see the inside perspective of the Korean school system and specifically where AGRICULTURE is involved.  So I encourage you to follow us as we get closer to the trip as well and especially when we're finally there!!!!

Helping 2nd graders plant zinnias and parsley to take home.

Here's a little bit of information about me before I get to head across the big pond to my final destination in Seoul, South Korea. For starters, I just finished up my freshman year and like everyone else here, I'm Majoring in Agricultural & Extension Education with minors in Leadership Development, Internation Agriculture and Military Science.  Yup, I said Military Science.  I'm also in the Army ROTC program.

Currently I'm working an Internship with Penn State Extension in Northumberland County.  I'm right where my dream job is, working with youth  and 4-H!  It's awesome.  I'm hoping that this trip will be able to give me a global aspect on agriculture that I might be able to bring back to the 4-H program and somehow implement my experiences into the things I do here.  My goal is to expand members learning beyond a specific project and to see why it is sooo important that they learn these skills on a global aspect.  I believe that this will help keep interest in 4-H and help keep the program up and running.
