Korean Ag Education

Today we finally got to meet our Korean Ag Education Students who were our pen pals for the 6-8 weeks. We all tried to communicate before we can so that we could become familiar with one another. Surprisingly some of us learned a great deal about our pen pals. The agricultural education degree at Seoul National University is called Workforce Development and Vocational Education.

There program of study is very similar in some aspects to our but very different in other ways. Some similarities between our programs is the students complete their student teaching experience after there 7th semester of classes. The biggest similarity in classes is the plant science and horticulture. They also have similar teaching preperation classes. A big difference between our programs is that students are not required to take classes in animal science. Their classes are plant based as well as workforce development. Most students that graduate with a degree are not planning to be agriculture teachers because there are not employment opportunities here. They do have opportunities to work for large companies such as LG,Samsung, and Kia in the human resource development department.
